Affirmations to fall asleep to (2026): calm lines for bedtime, plus a two-minute wind-down
Full disclosure: I make Anicca, an affirmation app, so I am not neutral. The honest short answer: affirmations will not put you to sleep on command, and they are not a treatment for sleep problems. For some people, a few quiet lines at bedtime are a gentle way to set the day down.
A common reason sleep stalls is a busy mind: replaying the day, rehearsing tomorrow, or arguing with a worry. A short, steady sentence gives your mind something simple to rest on instead of the loop. It is a pause, not a switch.
Lines tend to work better when they are soft and believable. "I will sleep perfectly tonight" can create pressure. Lines like "I do not have to solve tomorrow tonight" or "Resting is enough for now" do not demand a result, so there is nothing to fail at.
Keep it low-stimulation: dim light, phone on night mode or set down after reading a line, and a slow pace. Affirmations sit alongside the basics, such as a regular schedule, a dark and cool room, and winding down before bed.
Anicca sends one short line at the time you choose, covers 13 self-care topics, has no streaks, and is free to download with an optional subscription. The lines below are free to use with or without the app.

A two-minute wind-down before sleep
- Write one unfinished thing on paper, with a first step for tomorrow if you like, so your mind does not have to hold it overnight.
- Breathe out slowly for a count of six, three times, with your shoulders loose.
- Read one line from the list, slowly, twice. Put the phone down and keep the lights low. If you are still awake, that is okay: rest quietly instead of trying to force sleep.
