How do you put a daily affirmation on your iPhone Lock Screen? A simple setup with Anicca
The screen you see most often is not inside any app. It is your Lock Screen, every time you pick up your iPhone to check the time. We build Anicca, a daily affirmation app for iPhone, and that is exactly where we put the practice: a new affirmation on your Lock Screen every day, with no streak to protect and no long session to finish. This guide is our own first-hand account of how the Lock Screen setup works in Anicca, what else the app does once it is there, what it costs, and what our measured App Store numbers look like so far.
Why put an affirmation on the Lock Screen instead of inside an app?
An affirmation inside an app only works when you remember to open the app. On a difficult day, that is usually the step that disappears. A Lock Screen affirmation removes that step. You do not start a session, choose a playlist, or protect a streak. You glance at your phone, read one short line, and continue with your day.
On our Anicca product page we describe the flow in three small steps: choose what is on your mind, allow a little reminder, and read a short card. The Lock Screen widget is the same idea carried to the screen you already look at. Anicca means impermanence — the Pāli word anicca — and the tone follows from that: the feeling you are in right now is also passing, so the words are written to be kind rather than loud.
How do you set up the Anicca Lock Screen affirmation, step by step?
You need an iPhone running iOS 16.6 or later. That is the compatibility listed on our App Store listing and on our product page.
1. Download Anicca and choose your topics. Anicca is free to download. During setup you choose the concerns you want support with, such as self-criticism or overthinking, or a focus such as self-love or confidence in the App Store listing's words. 2. Add Anicca to your Lock Screen. Long-press your Lock Screen, tap Customize, add the Anicca widget, and save. The App Store listing describes this as a new affirmation on your Lock Screen every day. Our widget also supports Home Screen sizes, so you can keep the same words in both places if you want to. 3. Turn on notifications if you want reminders during the day. Notifications are optional. You can manage the permission at any time in iPhone Settings, and the cards are there when you open the app either way. 4. Read one line, then stop. That is the whole practice for the day. If a line lands, you can save it as a favorite, copy it, or share the card as an image — all three are listed features in the current App Store description.
There is nothing to catch up on if you miss a day. Our product page is explicit about this: Anicca has no streaks. Tomorrow's affirmation simply arrives tomorrow.
What else does Anicca do once the widget is set up?
The Lock Screen is the front door, not the whole house. Inside the app you can swipe through short, visual affirmation cards at your own pace, save your favorites and revisit them in one place, and choose from 8 background themes, as listed on the App Store. The app supports English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.
A few example lines from our product page show the register we write in: "You can be a work in progress and still speak to yourself with kindness." "Rest does not need to be earned. You can let today be enough." "Anicca means impermanence. The feeling you are in right now is also passing." Short, specific, and believable is the standard we hold the cards to.
If you are comparing apps before you choose, our dated comparison Best affirmation apps, tested against the same rubric puts Anicca next to the other main options on price, widgets, and Lock Screen support, and says plainly where the others are the better fit.
What do our own numbers say about Anicca so far?
We publish our numbers as measured, even when they are small, and we date them. App Store Connect recorded the following for Daily Affirmations - Anicca in the 28 days from 11 October to 7 November 2026: 930 impressions, 85 product page views, and 15 downloads. The downloads came from Japan (7), the United States (4), India (2), South Korea (1), and Colombia (1), through App Store search (9) and App referrer (6). In the most recent 7 days of that window, 1 to 7 November 2026, there were 161 impressions, 8 product page views, and no downloads.
That is the honest picture on 8 November 2026: a real, published app, currently at version 1.9.8 on the App Store, with a small audience we are growing in the open. Articles like this one, in the Anicca hub, are part of that work — answering the exact question the app is built for, in this case the one about where the affirmation should live.
Common questions
How much does Anicca cost?
Anicca is free to download, with an optional Anicca Premium subscription. The US App Store listing we read on 8 November 2026 shows Weekly Premium at $6.99, Monthly at $14.99, Annual Premium at $59.99, and Lifetime at $59.99. Prices vary by region and are always shown on the purchase screen before you buy, so check that screen for your own price.
Which iPhones does Anicca support?
Anicca requires iOS 16.6 or later and is designed for iPhone, as listed on the App Store. The listing gives the app size as 39.7 MB and its category as Health & Fitness.
Do I have to turn on notifications?
No. Notifications give you gentle reminders during the day, but the Lock Screen affirmation and the cards inside the app work without them. You can change the permission at any time in iPhone Settings.
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing is lost and nothing is reset. Anicca has no streaks, so a missed day is just a missed day. The next affirmation arrives the next day, and your saved favorites stay where you left them.
Is Anicca a mental-health treatment?
No. As our App Store listing states, Anicca is a self-care and wellness app. It does not provide medical diagnoses, treatment, or advice, and its content is for informational and motivational purposes only. For concerns about your mental or physical health, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
