How do you start reading the Dhammapada? One verse a day, with a pause
The Dhammapada is short — 423 verses — but most people who open it read a chapter once, feel briefly inspired, and never come back. Daily Dhamma is the iPhone app we built around a smaller promise: one curated verse at a time, in a focused reading view, with gentle reminders that invite you to stop and notice the moment. This guide explains what the app does, a simple way to begin, and the measured results of its first month on the App Store.
What is in Daily Dhamma?
The reading experience comes first. You swipe through curated Dhammapada verses in a focused view, in light or dark mode, at your own pace. Around that core sit the reminders: a morning verse notification to start the day, and Stay Present reminders during it. Premium adds access to all curated verses in the app, verse bookmarking so you can save the teachings you want to return to, and up to 10 mindfulness reminders a day. The app is a free download with in-app purchases, for iPhone, and requires iOS 15.1 or later.
A simple way to begin
You do not need a study plan. Three small steps are enough:
1. Read one verse in the morning. Let the morning notification bring you a single verse instead of opening the whole book. 2. Pause with one line. When a line stays with you, stop there. The pause is the practice; finishing the chapter is not. 3. Bookmark what you want to revisit. Save the verse and let your bookmarks become a short, personal collection you actually return to.
Two minutes a day will carry you through the verses faster than one long session you never repeat.
What did the first measured month look like?
In the 28 days from 10 October to 6 November 2026, App Store Connect recorded 933 impressions and 17 downloads for Daily Dhamma — the most downloads of any app we publish in that window (Honne had 16, Anicca 15). We report these numbers as measured, and they set the baseline this blog will be checked against: a small, real readership for a daily verse, growing one reminder at a time.
